Which school has a more preppy campus culture, Harvard or Georgetown?

Georgetown tends to read as more consistently East Coast, socially polished, and style-conscious day to day. Harvard has plenty of students who fit that look, especially in certain social circles, but the overall vibe is broader, more mixed, and less uniformly preppy.

A lot of this comes from the schools’ environments. Georgetown’s campus and neighborhood contribute to a very buttoned-up feel: students are deeply tied into D.C. internships, politics, diplomacy, and policy culture, and that often shows up in how people dress and carry themselves. The school’s Catholic and international affairs identity also adds to that polished, professional atmosphere.

Harvard has its own old-money and traditional aesthetic, and some parts of campus absolutely lean blazer-and-loafers. But because Harvard is larger, more decentralized socially, and more varied in subcultures, you are just as likely to run into students who feel artsy, academic, activist, techy, or very casual.

So if the question is which campus comes across as more preppy in everyday life, Georgetown is the clearer answer. Harvard still has that classic elite look in pockets, but Georgetown is more likely to feel preppy as a dominant campus style rather than just one strand of the culture.
