How do Wake Forest and Tufts compare in prestige and academic reputation?

The biggest practical tradeoff is that Tufts has broader national and international name recognition, while Wake Forest often carries especially strong respect in the South and among people familiar with selective private universities. In real-world perception, both are seen as excellent schools, but Tufts is a little more likely to get an immediate “I know that school” response in more parts of the country. Wake Forest, meanwhile, is often viewed as polished, selective, and academically serious, with a particularly strong reputation in business, pre-health, and close faculty attention.
