Which is better for internships, UChicago or Georgetown?

For internships specifically, Georgetown usually has the edge if you want opportunities during the school year. Its Washington, DC location makes it much easier to intern part time with government offices, think tanks, NGOs, embassies, media outlets, and policy adjacent employers while classes are in session. That kind of semester access is one of Georgetown’s biggest practical advantages.

Georgetown is especially attractive for students interested in politics, international relations, public policy, public service, journalism, consulting, and some finance roles tied to DC networks. The school has deep alumni connections in those fields, and a lot of employers are already used to hiring Georgetown students during fall and spring terms. If your goal is to build a resume steadily across multiple semesters, Georgetown creates a very convenient setup.

UChicago is still excellent for internships, but it tends to shine more for students aiming at academically rigorous fields and structured recruiting pipelines rather than frequent in-semester access. It places well into finance, consulting, research, economics, data-focused work, and graduate-school-oriented experiences. Chicago also offers a major city job market, but getting to internships during the quarter can be less seamless than Georgetown’s DC setup, especially because UChicago’s academic pace is intense.

For summer internships, both schools can open strong doors because both have national reputations and strong alumni networks. In that case, the difference is less about school name and more about field.
