Is Case Western or Georgetown better for finance careers?

I’m trying to decide between these two schools and want to focus on long-term career outcomes in finance. I know both have strong reputations, but I’m more interested in which one tends to be better for recruiting, networking, and getting into finance after graduation.

I’m a current high school student and want to make a choice that gives me the strongest path into the industry.

The biggest practical tradeoff is access to finance recruiting networks versus a more STEM-heavy environment. Georgetown gives you a much deeper pipeline into finance because of its Washington, DC location, its large alumni base in business and government-adjacent fields, and its stronger visibility with employers in investment banking, asset management, consulting, and related roles. Case Western is respected and can absolutely place students into finance, but its reputation and recruiting strength are more concentrated in engineering, health, and technical fields than in traditional high-finance pipelines.

For recruiting and networking specifically, Georgetown has the clearer edge. Employers in finance are very familiar with Georgetown, and the school benefits from a dense alumni network that tends to be active in East Coast finance circles, especially in roles where relationships and school brand matter early in your career. The student ecosystem also makes a difference: you are more likely to be surrounded by classmates targeting banking, investing, and consulting, which often leads to better peer preparation for internships and recruiting.

Case Western can still work well if you are proactive, especially for corporate finance, quantitative finance, risk, analytics, or finance roles that value strong technical skills. If your interests lean toward the intersection of finance and data, engineering, or healthcare, Case Western may offer some distinctive opportunities. But for the classic path of maximizing on-campus recruiting access, alumni connections, and name recognition in finance, it is not as naturally plugged in as Georgetown.

If your main goal is the strongest long-term path into finance, Georgetown is the safer bet. Case Western becomes more compelling only if you strongly prefer its academic environment, cost, or a more technical version of finance rather than the broadest access to traditional finance recruiting.
