A student who thrives in a large, research-heavy environment may find UC San Diego especially valuable. Biology, neuroscience, public health, and related fields are deeply built out there, and nearby medical opportunities are a real advantage. If you already know you want substantial exposure to research or are excited by the idea of being near a medical school and academic hospital system, UCSD offers a level of scale that is hard to match.
