Which is better for social life: UC Davis or Pepperdine?

For most students looking for an active, easy-to-enter social scene, UC Davis usually offers more day-to-day social variety. It has a much larger student body, a true college-town setting, and a campus culture built around clubs, residence hall life, student events, and people staying near campus on weekends. Pepperdine can be social too, but the experience is more shaped by its smaller size, Malibu location, and a campus culture that can feel quieter or more contained.

UC Davis tends to work well for someone who wants lots of ways to meet people without relying on one single scene. Because Davis is a college town, students often hang out around campus, bike to friends’ places, join club events, attend campus traditions, and keep social life centered in the same area where they live and study. That usually makes casual friendships and spontaneous plans easier.

Pepperdine is often more appealing to a student who likes a smaller, more intimate community and does not mind putting in a bit more effort to make plans. The campus is beautiful, but Malibu is not the same kind of walkable college-town environment as Davis. Social life there can depend more on friend groups, organized events, beach outings, and whether students leave campus for LA-area activities.
