You will find more advanced electives, more large-scale research activity, more student organizations focused on tech, and more employers actively targeting the campus for software engineering, systems, AI, and startups. Its Bay Area location also helps with internships during the school year, networking, and exposure to alumni in major tech companies.

Santa Cruz is still a solid option for CS, especially if you want a more manageable environment. It has good academics, a beautiful campus, and proximity to Silicon Valley, so internships are still very possible.
