Which is better for finance: Northeastern or Notre Dame?
I'm a high school junior trying to narrow down my college list and both of these schools keep coming up for finance. I know they have different reputations and career paths, so I'm trying to understand which one is generally considered stronger for finance and why.
I'm mainly looking at overall career outcomes and how well the schools are viewed by employers in finance.

For finance, Notre Dame usually has the stronger overall reputation with employers, especially for traditional high-finance paths like investment banking, asset management, and consulting-adjacent finance roles.
Notre Dame makes the most sense for a student who wants a classic undergraduate business experience with a nationally recognized finance brand. Employers know Mendoza, and the school’s alumni culture is a real advantage in finance, where warm introductions and school loyalty can matter.
Northeastern is appealing for a different type of student: someone who wants heavy pre-professional experience early and likes learning through work. Its co-op model is a real asset because you can graduate with substantial internship or full-time work experience, and being in Boston creates access to asset management, corporate finance, fintech, and regional financial firms during the school year.
On pure employer perception in finance, though, Notre Dame tends to travel more strongly as a national signal. Northeastern is respected and very career-oriented, but it is often seen more through the lens of experiential education than as a top target for the most prestige-sensitive finance recruiting.
So if your question is which school is more broadly viewed as stronger for finance outcomes and finance employer recognition, I’d give that nod to Notre Dame. Northeastern becomes very compelling if you prefer a more urban, work-integrated college experience and see yourself leveraging co-ops to break into finance through experience rather than alumni-driven pipelines.
