Which school has better internship opportunities, Clemson or Ohio State?

The biggest practical tradeoff is location and employer density: Ohio State gives you access to a much larger nearby job market during the academic year, while Clemson offers strong recruiting and hands-on pipelines but in a smaller college-town setting. If you want internships you can realistically do part time during semesters, Ohio State has an edge because Columbus is a major city with a broad mix of companies, startups, hospitals, nonprofits, and corporate offices. Clemson does very well with employer connections too, especially through engineering, business, and programs tied to major regional employers, but many students rely more on summer internships or co-ops than on in-semester roles close to campus.

Ohio State benefits from being in Columbus, which matters more than people sometimes realize. Being near a state capital and large metro area creates more options for semester internships in fields like business, finance, marketing, public policy, healthcare, data, and tech. Ohio State also has a very large alumni network and a huge volume of employers that recruit through campus events, which can make it easier to find multiple leads rather than depending on a narrower set of companies.

Clemson is not weak on internships at all. In some areas, especially engineering and certain applied majors, Clemson has an excellent reputation with employers and a strong co-op culture. The university’s industry partnerships and career resources are solid, and students often land meaningful internships with well-known companies. The difference is that the surrounding area is smaller, so for in-semester access you may have fewer nearby choices unless you are willing to commute, work remotely, or target specific structured programs.

For pure internship access across the most majors, Ohio State comes out ahead.
