Boston College vs. Lehigh for accounting: which has the stronger program and recruiting outcomes?

I’m trying to decide between Boston College and Lehigh and accounting is the main major I’m considering. Both schools seem solid overall, but I’m having trouble figuring out which one is better for accounting specifically.

I’m mostly looking at the strength of the program and whether it sets students up well for internships and accounting jobs after graduation.

For accounting specifically, Boston College has the clearer edge in both program reputation and recruiting reach. BC’s Carroll School of Management is especially well known in the Northeast, and its location near Boston gives students direct access to a very large market for Big Four, middle-market, and corporate accounting internships. That combination usually translates into broader on-campus recruiting and more built-in opportunities during the school year.

Boston College tends to fit the student who wants a more established accounting pipeline and expects recruiting to be a major factor in the college decision. Firms know BC well, and Boston is one of the strongest cities in the country for accounting and finance hiring, so students benefit from both alumni connections and geographic proximity. For someone aiming at public accounting, especially Big Four or large regional firms, BC is often the more straightforward platform.

Lehigh is still a very credible option, especially for a student who wants a smaller, more intimate business school environment and is comfortable being more proactive in the job search. Its College of Business has solid outcomes, and Lehigh places well in accounting, consulting, and finance, particularly in the Northeast. The alumni network is loyal, and students who take advantage of it can do very well, but the recruiting ecosystem is not usually viewed as quite as deep or as naturally advantaged as BC’s.

Lehigh may appeal more to someone who values a tighter-knit campus culture and wants personal access to faculty and classmates in business courses. If you are self-directed and willing to network aggressively for internships, Lehigh can absolutely get you to strong accounting roles. But if the question is which school offers the stronger accounting brand and the more robust recruiting setup with less guesswork, Boston College is the stronger answer.
