Georgia Tech vs UT Austin: Which school offers better undergraduate research opportunities?

I’m trying to compare Georgia Tech and UT Austin and the biggest thing I care about is getting involved in research as an undergrad. I’m interested in engineering, and I want a school where it’s realistic to find projects, build relationships with professors, and maybe get into research early.

From a student perspective, I would lean Georgia Tech if your priority is maximizing the odds that engineering research feels immediate, visible, and embedded in campus culture. I would lean UT Austin if you want top-tier engineering research but also value the flexibility and scale of a flagship university where your technical work could connect to many other fields.
