Princeton and Bowdoin can both be fun, but they are fun in pretty different ways. Bowdoin feels more intimate and low-pressure day to day, with a tight residential community, strong outdoor culture, and a campus social life that is less status-conscious and less centered on a few high-profile institutions.

Princeton tends to appeal to someone who wants a lot happening at once. There are frequent campus events, guest speakers, performances, club activity, athletic games, and a social calendar that can feel active even on weeknights. The eating club system shapes social life for many upperclass students, which some people find exciting and tradition-rich, but others find a little too structured or socially loaded.

Bowdoin fits students who think fun means knowing people well, having spontaneous dorm or house gatherings, and being part of a close community where it is easy to see familiar faces. Brunswick is a smaller town, so the energy comes more from the campus itself and from Maine’s outdoors than from a nearby city. Students who like hiking, the coast, winter activities, and a more relaxed social rhythm often find Bowdoin especially enjoyable.

If you get energized by scale, tradition, and a wider mix of scenes, Princeton usually feels livelier. If your version of a great college experience is close-knit, friendly, and less performative socially, Bowdoin often lands better.
