Boston College or NYU for business: which is better for undergrad business students?

NYU is usually viewed as the stronger option for undergraduate business, especially if you mean business in a practical, career-launching sense. For many students aiming at Wall Street, investment banking, or high-end corporate roles, that day-to-day proximity matters a lot.

The biggest differentiator is the business school itself. Boston College’s Carroll School is well respected and produces strong outcomes, but it does not have quite the same standalone brand power in undergrad business circles.

Career access is another real advantage for NYU. Being in New York means students can network, intern, and attend employer events without needing to wait for summer, which can make recruiting feel more immediate and integrated into college life. Boston College has excellent placement too, particularly in the Northeast, but the access is less built into the weekly rhythm of the semester.

Boston College does have strengths that matter for some students. Its campus culture is more traditional and cohesive, and Carroll is known for a solid undergraduate focus rather than a more urban, self-directed experience. There is also a strong alumni network, especially in Boston, finance, and consulting, so it is far from a weak choice.

On reputation, recruiting reach, and the practical advantages of location, NYU has the edge for undergrad business.
