Boston College vs UNC Chapel Hill for accounting: which is better for a future accountant?

UNC Chapel Hill has the edge for accounting. Its Kenan-Flagler Business School is especially well regarded in undergraduate business, and the accounting path benefits from strong recruiter attention from major public accounting firms, corporate employers, and firms with a big presence in the Southeast and beyond. UNC also offers a clearer built-in undergraduate business structure for students who want accounting tied closely to finance, consulting, and corporate recruiting.

One important differentiator is how the major is housed. At UNC, accounting sits within a high-visibility undergraduate business school, which usually means more direct access to business-specific advising, employer events, and classmates who are also targeting accounting and related fields. That setup tends to make the path into internships and full-time recruiting more straightforward.

Another difference is recruiting geography. UNC places very well in North Carolina and other major Southern markets, but its reach is not just regional, especially for accounting and finance. Large firms know the program well.
