Allen School has a much deeper CS ecosystem, far broader course offerings, and unusually strong recruiting ties because Seattle is one of the biggest tech hubs in the country. For academics, internships, and outcomes into industry or grad school, UW has a clearer edge.

The biggest differentiator is the CS program itself. UW’s Allen School is one of the most established and respected computer science departments in the U.S., with extensive upper-level options in areas like systems, AI, HCI, graphics, theory, and data science. That matters in undergrad because it gives you more ways to explore specialties, join research, and build a stronger technical foundation before applying to jobs or PhD programs.

Location is another major advantage. Being in Seattle means students are close to major employers and a large network of startups and established tech companies, which tends to translate into more frequent recruiting, industry events, and internship access during the school year.
