But the experience is less inherently personal, and advising can feel more self-directed.

Vassar is stronger if your priority is broad exploration paired with sustained, close interaction with professors from the start. Its size makes interdisciplinary curiosity feel more embedded in daily life, not something you have to carve out for yourself. Berkeley is better thought of as a research university that can support a liberal arts style education if you seek it out aggressively.
