It has solid outcomes in engineering and computer science, and some students do very well because the school is close to companies and can offer more direct faculty access and a less crowded environment. But for the most competitive software recruiting, Berkeley tends to have the stronger brand signal and wider employer demand.

One important nuance is that Berkeley can be more competitive internally. Large classes, crowded clubs, and a more intense environment can make it harder to stand out if you do not take initiative. Santa Clara may make it easier to build relationships, get leadership roles, and access support, which can matter for internships too.
