NYU vs Boston College for social life: which campus has the more active student social scene?

The biggest practical tradeoff is this: Boston College has a much more concentrated, campus-based social scene, while NYU has a social life that is active but spread across the city and requires more individual effort to plug into. At BC, undergrads live and socialize around a traditional campus in Chestnut Hill, so parties, club events, game days, and casual hangouts tend to feel more centralized. At NYU, students are constantly doing things, but the scene is less unified because there is no enclosed campus and people disperse across Manhattan.

If what you mean by “more social, outgoing environment” is the feeling that student life is happening around you all the time and it is easy to join in, BC usually gives that more clearly. School spirit is noticeably stronger there, athletics matter more to the social calendar, and weekend life tends to revolve around other students. So for pure undergraduate social atmosphere, Boston College usually feels more consistently social and communal. NYU can absolutely be lively, but BC is more likely to give you the outgoing, campus-centered student scene most people mean when they ask which school is “more social.”
