ASU also has a very visible social scene tied to sports, Greek life, and a campus culture that feels busy and extroverted.

Location is the biggest separator. ASU sits in Tempe within the Phoenix area, so the campus experience blends into a real city with far more off-campus entertainment and spontaneity. Virginia Tech is in Blacksburg, which has a strong college-town atmosphere and plenty of school spirit, but the range of weekend options is narrower and more centered on the university itself.

The social vibe is different too. ASU tends to feel looser, more varied, and more outwardly social, with a large student body creating many distinct scenes at once. Virginia Tech has a very engaged student community, especially around football, traditions, and campus events, but the culture is often described as more contained and community-driven than constantly buzzing.
