Which is better for internships: Baylor or Texas Christian University?

The biggest practical tradeoff is city access versus campus-driven recruiting. TCU’s location in Fort Worth puts students closer to a larger day-to-day internship market, especially during the school year, while Baylor leans more on structured university support, alumni connections, and employers who actively recruit through campus channels. If being able to commute to internships during a semester matters a lot, TCU has a real edge simply because of where it sits in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

TCU benefits from proximity to major companies, hospitals, nonprofits, media organizations, and finance and business offices across Fort Worth and the broader metroplex. That makes part-time internships during fall or spring more realistic, not just summer opportunities. For students in business, communications, healthcare-related fields, and some arts and media areas, that nearby market can make networking and repeated in-person experience easier.

Baylor, in Waco, is in a smaller market, so the local internship pool is not as deep. But Baylor does a good job creating access through career services, employer events, alumni networks, and school-specific support. Students often do well there, but the process may depend a bit more on being proactive about summer internships in Dallas, Houston, Austin, or elsewhere rather than expecting the surrounding city to supply as many options.

For pure internship access during college, I’d give TCU the advantage. For students who want the easiest mix of school-year internships, employer proximity, and metro-area networking, TCU is likely the more practical choice.
