Princeton or Amherst for computer science: which is better for undergrad CS?
I’m trying to decide between Princeton and Amherst for computer science, and I’m mostly looking at the overall undergraduate experience for a CS major.
I know they’re very different schools, so I want to understand which one is generally stronger for computer science in terms of academics, research, and preparation for internships or grad school.

The biggest practical tradeoff is depth versus intimacy. Princeton gives you a much larger and more built-out computer science ecosystem, with a full engineering school, many more CS courses and subfields, and easier access to labs, graduate-level activity, and classmates who are heavily focused on tech. Amherst offers a smaller, more personal undergraduate environment with very close faculty attention, but its CS department is simply not as broad or resourced as Princeton’s.
