For computer science specifically, the University of Washington usually has the edge in program strength, recruiting access, and industry proximity. Seattle gives you direct access to a major tech hub, and that tends to translate into more visible internship and networking opportunities during the school year. If your top priority is maximizing CS prestige and connection to big tech recruiting, UW is the tougher program to beat.

UW is especially compelling for the student who wants to be surrounded by a very intense CS culture and take advantage of being in Seattle. The local ecosystem matters here: internships, part-time roles, hackathons, alumni connections, and company events are simply easier to find when major employers are nearby.
