Should I choose Adelphi University or Temple University for college?

The biggest practical tradeoff is small private suburban support at Adelphi versus big public city energy and scale at Temple. Adelphi, in Garden City on Long Island, offers a more contained campus and typically more direct day-to-day access to professors and advising. Temple, in Philadelphia, gives you a much larger student body, more majors and student organizations, and far more built-in access to internships, hospitals, media outlets, and city-based opportunities during the school year.

Your actual college experience would likely feel very different at the two schools. Adelphi tends to suit students who want a quieter environment, smaller classes, and a campus where it is easier to become known quickly. Temple feels busier and more independent; students often need to be more proactive, but the payoff is a wider range of experiences both on campus and in Philadelphia.

Academically, Temple has broader depth across programs simply because it is a much larger university. It is especially noticeable in areas tied to an urban setting, such as business, communications, health fields, and pre-professional paths with internship access. Adelphi can be appealing if you value a more personal academic atmosphere and want less of a giant-university feel in your classes and advising.

Socially, Adelphi is more traditional and contained, while Temple is shaped heavily by the city around it. That affects everything from weekends to transportation to the kind of independence expected from students. Cost should also matter here because private versus public pricing can change the equation a lot, especially if one school gave you much better aid.

If the prices are close, I’d lean Temple for the broader experience and opportunity base, especially if you want an active campus and are comfortable navigating a city environment. I’d lean Adelphi only if you know you want a smaller, more personal setting and think you would thrive with that closer-knit structure.
