Is Adelphi or Binghamton better for finance students?

I’m trying to decide between Adelphi and Binghamton and finance is the major I’m most interested in. I want to know which school tends to be the stronger choice for finance in terms of academics, recruiting, and preparing for internships or jobs.

I’m still early in the decision process, but this is the main factor I’m using to compare the two schools.

For most students focused on finance, Binghamton is the stronger option. Its School of Management has a bigger reputation, a broader alumni network, and stronger access to recruiters, especially for roles in corporate finance, banking, consulting-adjacent business jobs, and internships tied to the New York market. It also tends to offer a deeper peer environment for business students, which matters because finance recruiting is often driven by student clubs, competition teams, and networking momentum as much as coursework.

Binghamton fits the student who wants a more established business pipeline and is ready for a larger, more competitive environment. You’re more likely to find classmates aiming for high-level internships early, active finance and investment organizations, and a campus culture where recruiting preparation starts well before senior year. If your priority is maximizing brand recognition within New York State and building toward internships through clubs, alumni, and career infrastructure, Binghamton has the edge.

Adelphi makes more sense for a student who wants smaller classes, more direct faculty attention, and a less intense campus setting. That can be valuable if you learn better with closer mentoring or want easier access to professors and campus leadership roles. Its location on Long Island can also help with local internships, especially if you want to stay in that region and build connections there. But in finance specifically, it usually does not carry the same level of recognition or recruiting pull as Binghamton.

On academics alone, both can prepare you for finance fundamentals if you do well and seek out internships. The difference is that Binghamton more often gives you a stronger platform around the classroom: student network, employer visibility, and a larger business ecosystem.
