At Tulane, the energy comes from being in Uptown New Orleans, with students tapping into concerts, food, festivals, and the city’s nightlife as much as campus events.

If you mean “fun” in the most traditional college sense, a lot of students would probably point to Florida State. It has the more unmistakable big-campus party reputation, a strong school-spirit culture, and the kind of weekend environment where it feels like something is always happening because there are so many students. Students who want tailgates, packed game days, and a more visible campus-wide social scene often find FSU easier to plug into.

Tulane can be incredibly fun too, but it feels different. The appeal is less about one dominant campus scene and more about access to New Orleans, which is a huge advantage if your idea of fun includes live music, restaurants, festivals, and a social life that extends beyond the university bubble. Students who like a more off-campus, city-based experience often love it, though some people prefer the built-in cohesiveness of a larger college-town environment.

One other real difference is vibe. FSU tends to feel more spirited, high-energy, and conventionally social on campus day to day. Tulane often feels more eclectic and city-oriented, with students enjoying the flexibility of both campus life and New Orleans culture.

So in terms of raw, broad-based college social energy, Florida State probably has the edge. If your version of fun is more tied to the city itself and a distinctive New Orleans lifestyle, Tulane may be the more memorable place to spend four years.
