At BU, biology students benefit from being in Boston, where biotech, medicine, and academic research are deeply built into the local ecosystem. That matters if you want lots of possible research placements, exposure to hospitals, or flexibility to explore areas like molecular biology, neuroscience, public health, or pre-med pathways. BU’s size can be an advantage academically because there are many faculty, course options, and related departments, but it can also mean you need to be proactive about finding mentors and opportunities.

Wake Forest is appealing if you want biology in a setting where undergraduates are more likely to be at the center of the academic experience.
