Is Northeastern or Fordham better for marketing?
I’m a high school senior trying to decide between these two schools and marketing is the major I’m most interested in. Both seem strong in different ways, but I’m having trouble figuring out which one is generally considered the better choice for someone who wants to study marketing and build a career in it.
I’m mostly trying to understand which school has the stronger reputation for marketing overall.

For marketing specifically, Northeastern is usually viewed as the stronger overall option. Its business school has a particularly visible connection to experiential learning through co-op, and that matters a lot in marketing because internships, brand work, analytics, and agency experience can shape your resume early.
Northeastern makes the most sense for a student who wants marketing to feel hands-on from the start. The co-op model is the biggest reason: marketing students can build real experience in areas like digital marketing, market research, social media strategy, brand management, and consumer insights before graduating. That often gives students a clearer sense of whether they prefer corporate marketing, agency work, product marketing, or analytics.
Fordham is still a credible choice, especially for a student who wants a strong business education in New York City and is drawn to a more traditional college structure. Its location can be a real advantage for internships during the school year, particularly in media, fashion, communications, and corporate settings. For someone who is self-directed and wants to make aggressive use of NYC networking, Fordham can absolutely lead to strong marketing opportunities.
Where Fordham tends to appeal most is to students who value the combination of business, communication, and a classic campus experience with access to Manhattan. It can work very well for brand, media, and advertising-adjacent interests, especially if you are excited about building contacts locally.
So if the question is purely which school is more widely regarded as stronger for marketing, Northeastern is the safer answer. Fordham remains a solid option, but Northeastern is more likely to be the one people point to first for marketing because of its business-school visibility and work-integrated approach.
