Connecticut College is easier to get into than Bowdoin. Bowdoin is one of the more selective liberal arts colleges in the country, and its applicant pool tends to be exceptionally strong across grades, rigor, recommendations, and activities. Connecticut College is also selective, but it is typically viewed as less competitive in the overall admissions landscape.

One concrete difference is applicant intensity and institutional position. Bowdoin draws a very large national and international pool of students who are often also applying to the most sought-after liberal arts colleges and highly selective universities, which pushes its bar higher.
