One big difference is how community is structured. Harvard’s House system becomes a major part of daily life, with housing, dining, traditions, events, and advising all tied to a smaller residential community. That setup often makes it easier to feel anchored and to build friendships outside your classes. MIT has dorm culture too, and some dorms are famously close-knit, but the experience can vary more depending on where you live.
