Wake Forest usually offers a somewhat smaller, more personal undergraduate environment, and many students find advising and professor access easier to navigate, though its clinical and research network is a bit less centralized for undergrads than Duke’s.

For undergraduate preparation alone, Duke has exceptional built-in advantages. Duke University Hospital, Duke School of Medicine, and major biomedical research labs create unusually strong opportunities for shadowing, clinical exposure, and research. That matters because strong pre-med prep is often about how quickly you can plug into real science and patient-facing work, and Duke makes that easier at a high level.
