For banking especially, that kind of access can help you build relationships earlier and get more exposure before junior-year recruiting ramps up.

The student culture is another meaningful separator. Columbia tends to have a denser finance community, with more peers aiming for banking, investing, and related fields, which usually means more structured clubs, stronger peer prep, and a wider alumni base specifically engaged in finance recruiting. Brown absolutely places students into finance too, but its culture is less centered on that track, so you may need to be more self-directed.
