Is Boston University or Villanova better for internships?

Boston University has the edge for internships. Its biggest advantage is location: being in Boston gives students access to a huge concentration of employers in finance, biotech, healthcare, media, tech, government, nonprofits, and startups, and that matters a lot for in-semester internships when commuting time can make or break an opportunity.

BU also benefits from being a large university with broad employer reach across many fields. Students can tap into a deep alumni network, major-specific career resources, and a city where companies are already used to hiring college interns during the academic year, not just over the summer.

Villanova is not weak here at all, especially for business, finance, accounting, and some corporate roles tied to the Philadelphia area. Its suburban campus is close enough to Philly for internships, and the alumni network is known for being loyal and responsive, which can be a real plus when networking for competitive roles.

The difference is that Villanova students often have a more limited local market during the school week compared with BU students. Philadelphia offers solid opportunities, but BU students are immersed in a denser employer ecosystem day to day, which usually creates more volume, more variety, and easier access to part-time internships while classes are in session.

Career support can be good at both schools, but BU’s scale and city integration make internships feel more built into the college experience.
