That matters because early-stage entrepreneurship often depends as much on people and market exposure as on campus programming.

Virginia Tech stands out if you want a campus-centered startup experience with strong hands-on building support. Its innovation ecosystem is especially appealing for students who like turning technical ideas into products, and the university has put real effort into student founders through venture advising, competitions, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Culturally, both schools are strong for engineers and builders. NC State feels more outward-facing because of the Triangle.
