Wake Forest vs Emory for consulting careers: which is better for recruiting and placement?

The biggest practical tradeoff is this: Emory gives you broader access to major consulting firms and a larger Atlanta-based professional network, while Wake Forest offers a smaller, more personal environment where students often get strong career support but from a narrower recruiting base. For consulting specifically, Emory tends to have the clearer edge because of its location, brand recognition in major metro markets, and the number of employers that recruit there for business-oriented roles. Wake Forest can still place well, especially for driven students, but it is less commonly seen as the stronger consulting pipeline of the two.

At Emory, the Goizueta Business School is a meaningful advantage. It has a well-established undergraduate business program, strong alumni presence, and direct access to Atlanta, which is a major hub for consulting, corporate strategy, and finance.

Wake Forest has real strengths too. Its smaller size can mean tighter mentoring, accessible professors, and a career center that can be very hands-on. Students who are proactive can absolutely reach consulting from Wake, especially into regional offices or through networking-heavy paths, but the pipeline is typically not as deep or as naturally built out as Emory’s.

If consulting is the main goal and you want the school that more consistently lines up with that path, Emory is the safer pick. Wake Forest remains a solid option, but Emory is the one I would give the advantage to for recruiting access and overall placement into consulting.
