Which is better for internships in Los Angeles: Chapman University or Loyola Marymount University?

The biggest practical tradeoff is proximity versus campus-driven access: Loyola Marymount sits in Los Angeles and makes in-semester internships much easier logistically, while Chapman is farther away and often requires more planning, commuting, or concentrating LA internships into summers. For a student who wants LA opportunities to feel built into the school year, LMU has a real location advantage.

LMU benefits from being on the Westside, close to major employment hubs. That matters because many internships, especially part-time ones during fall and spring, depend on being able to get across the city without turning every workday into a long commute.

Chapman does place students into strong internships, and its film, television, business, and communications students can absolutely reach LA opportunities. The limitation is that Orange is not as convenient for frequent in-person internships in Los Angeles, so students often have to be more intentional about transportation, scheduling classes, and targeting summer roles. If you are highly organized and willing to hustle, Chapman can still work well, but it usually asks more of you.

On the support side, both schools offer career services, alumni networks, and school-specific advising, but LMU tends to have the more natural day-to-day pipeline for LA internships because employers can recruit students who are already local to the city. If internships in Los Angeles are one of your top deciding factors, Loyola Marymount is the safer bet.
