Is Chapman or USC better for a finance major and career opportunities?
I'm trying to decide between Chapman and USC for college, and finance is the main field I'm interested in. I know both schools have business-related programs, but I'm trying to understand which one is generally stronger for finance and getting career opportunities after graduation.
I’m a high school senior and want to choose the school that would give me the better overall path into finance.

The biggest practical tradeoff is access versus scale: USC gives you a much larger finance ecosystem, deeper alumni reach, and stronger recruiting presence, while Chapman offers a smaller setting with more personal attention and easier access to professors and campus leadership.
If your main goal is the best overall path into finance, USC has the clearer edge. The Trojan alumni network is a real advantage in Southern California and beyond, and in finance, alumni connections often matter a lot for interviews, referrals, and early internships.
That does not mean Chapman is a weak option. Chapman can work well for students who want a more intimate campus environment, smaller classes, and a less intense atmosphere. You may find it easier there to stand out, build close faculty relationships, and take on leadership roles early. For careers in local business, commercial banking, financial advising, real estate, or regional corporate roles, Chapman can still open solid doors, especially in Orange County.
The main question is how ambitious and selective your finance target is. If you think you may want high-finance paths or simply want the widest range of finance opportunities, USC gives you more built-in momentum. If cost is similar and you are comfortable in a larger, more competitive environment, USC is the stronger choice for finance and career opportunities.
Chapman becomes more compelling if the financial difference is significant or if you know you would thrive much more in a smaller school setting. But on finance strength, employer recognition, alumni network, and access to internships, USC comes out ahead.
