Boston University vs Brandeis for pre-med: which is better for undergraduate preparation?

The biggest practical tradeoff is scale versus closeness: Boston University gives you a much larger medical ecosystem with direct access to a major city, teaching hospitals, and a big research university, while Brandeis offers a smaller undergraduate environment where it can be easier to build close relationships with professors and advisors. For pre-med, that matters because medical school preparation depends heavily on keeping a strong GPA, getting personalized recommendation letters, and finding clinical and research experiences early. Both schools can get you to med school, but they support that path in noticeably different ways.

BU’s advantage is opportunity density. Its location in Boston puts you near an unusually large concentration of hospitals, labs, and health-related organizations, and the university itself has extensive science offerings and a lot of pre-health activity.
