What you would get for the money also differs in campus environment. Michigan tends to have more nationally visible programs, a denser alumni network, and a more intense big-school atmosphere in Ann Arbor. UMass Amherst offers strong academics and campus life too, but the value case is most compelling when you are paying Massachusetts rates rather than stretching for a higher-priced nonresident option.
