Tulane benefits from being in New Orleans, where the culture itself spills into student life, and students often describe weekends as lively even outside formal campus events. Duke is also very social, but the feel is different: more contained within campus traditions, friend groups, and big sports weekends.

Tulane tends to appeal to students who want outgoing peers, easy access to restaurants, music, festivals, and a social culture that feels less tied to one dominant campus bubble. The New Orleans setting matters a lot here. Students who like the idea of social life extending beyond dorms, Greek life, and student organizations often find Tulane especially appealing because the city becomes part of the experience.

Duke fits students who want a strong weekend scene but still like having most of it anchored by the university itself.
