But the day-to-day atmosphere is more likely to feel intense, discussion-heavy, and centered on academic curiosity, so the social scene can take more initiative to tap into.

Location also changes the feel. UChicago gives you access to Chicago, which means restaurants, concerts, museums, and city life can be a real part of your social world. Rice is in Houston and has city access too, but its undergraduate fun is more concentrated on campus itself, which often makes student life feel easier to enter and more cohesive.

So if by fun you mean a campus where social life is highly organized, communal, and easy to find, Rice has the edge. UChicago can be deeply enjoyable too, especially for students who like quirky traditions and an intellectually charged atmosphere.
