UC San Diego vs University of Minnesota for undergraduate research opportunities

I’m trying to compare these two schools mainly for research as an undergraduate. I want a place where it’s realistic to get involved early and build experience in my field.

I know both are big research universities, but I’m not sure how the undergrad research opportunities compare in practice.
