What is campus life like at UVA compared with Dartmouth?

UVA tends to feel broader, busier, and more self-directed, while Dartmouth feels tighter-knit and more immersive because the college is smaller and much more physically isolated. At UVA, student life is spread across a large public university with a strong school-spirit culture, a visible Greek scene, and a lot happening both on Grounds and in Charlottesville. At Dartmouth, the residential community and rural location make campus life more centered on the college itself, so people often describe it as intense, close, and socially concentrated.

One big difference is the social structure. UVA has more variety in how students build community because there are so many clubs, traditions, academic subcommunities, and off-campus options in Charlottesville. UVA gives you more lanes to explore, which can be a better experience if you like choice and a little more social fluidity rather than a campus where everyone seems to know everyone else.
