Is UC Berkeley or UC Davis better for business majors?

The biggest practical tradeoff is prestige and recruiting power versus flexibility and ease of access. UC Berkeley carries much stronger name recognition in business, especially through Haas, and that matters for internships, finance, consulting, and employer attention. UC Davis can still lead to solid business outcomes, but it is not viewed at the same level for undergraduate business recruiting, and its pathway is usually more straightforward and less intense.

For business specifically, Berkeley has the clearer edge. The Haas School of Business is one of the most respected undergraduate business programs in the country, and Berkeley’s location near the Bay Area gives students unusually strong access to internships, alumni, startups, and major employers. That combination makes it especially attractive if you are interested in finance, consulting, entrepreneurship, or competitive corporate roles.

Davis is often easier to navigate academically and can offer a more balanced college experience, which some students prefer if they want less competition and more room to explore related fields like economics, managerial economics, or accounting.

For job preparation, Berkeley usually provides the stronger launchpad because of brand value, alumni reach, and recruiter interest. Davis does well for students who are proactive, but more of the burden may fall on you to seek out internships, network intentionally, and shape a business path through adjacent majors or campus opportunities.

If your priority is the strongest business reputation and the best odds for high-powered recruiting, Berkeley is the better choice. If you want a campus that may feel less intense and you are comfortable building your own path into business, Davis can still work well.
