UIUC is typically harder to get into than Indiana University overall, especially if you are applying to one of UIUC’s most sought-after programs. UIUC is well known for being more selective in areas like engineering, computer science, and business, and admission there can vary a lot by major. Indiana is still a respected and popular school, but for many applicants it is the more accessible option.

One big difference is how much program choice affects your odds. At UIUC, the college or major you apply to matters a great deal, and some departments are significantly tougher than the university as a whole.
