Which is better for computer science: UC Irvine or UC Davis?

For computer science specifically, both are well respected UCs, but Irvine tends to come up a bit more often in conversations about direct tech connections, internships during the school year, and visibility in Southern California hiring circles. Davis is still very solid, especially if you want a large, research-oriented public university with a collaborative atmosphere.

In terms of CS reputation alone, UC Irvine usually has a slight edge. Its location matters a lot here. Being close to Irvine’s business and tech corridor, and not far from the larger Southern California market, can make networking and part-time internship access easier. It is well regarded academically, has a strong engineering ecosystem, and can be an excellent place for students who want a traditional campus community rather than a more suburban setting.
