What is the student experience like at UVA compared with Wake Forest?

The biggest day-to-day tradeoff is scale and feel: UVA tends to feel larger, more public, and more student-driven, while Wake Forest usually feels smaller, more contained, and more closely guided by the university. At UVA, students often talk about a lot of independence, a busy and decentralized social scene, and the sense that there is always something happening somewhere in Charlottesville. At Wake, students more often describe a tighter campus community, easier access to professors, and a social life that revolves more directly around campus because Winston-Salem is less central to the experience than Charlottesville is at UVA.
