Is Georgetown or Tulane better for social life?

Tulane has the more active and easygoing social scene overall. Its campus culture is tightly connected to New Orleans, so weekends often spill beyond campus into concerts, restaurants, festivals, and neighborhood spots in a way that feels built into student life. The school is also known for a strong party scene and a social atmosphere where it is usually easy to meet people quickly.

A big difference is how much the surrounding city shapes the experience. Tulane students have direct access to one of the most social college cities in the country, and that creates a lot of energy even outside formal campus events. Georgetown is in Washington, DC, which offers plenty to do, but the student social scene tends to feel more spread out, more internship-oriented, and a bit less centered on classic weekend college nightlife.

Campus culture also feels different day to day. Tulane has a more relaxed, outgoing vibe, with strong school spirit around traditions like Mardi Gras season and a lot of students who prioritize having fun alongside academics. Georgetown students are often very involved and social too, but the atmosphere can come across as more preprofessional, politically focused, and less socially unified.

Another factor is how students actually socialize. Georgetown has clubs, bars, parties, and active friend groups, but many students build social life through organizations, campus communities, or DC connections rather than one dominant campus-wide scene. At Tulane, the social environment is usually more immediate and visible, which makes it easier for many students to find a fun weekend rhythm without working as hard to tap into it.
