Is Georgetown or Boston College more fun for undergraduates?

The biggest practical tradeoff is this: Boston College has a more traditional undergraduate campus social scene, while Georgetown offers a more urban, Washington-centered experience that can feel exciting but less centered on campus itself. BC has a contained residential campus, strong school spirit, and a social culture that often revolves around friends, dorms, campus events, and weekends tied to the student body. Georgetown has plenty happening, but a lot of the energy is split between campus and the city, with students often doing internships, exploring DC, or socializing in smaller circles rather than around one dominant campus scene.

If by “fun” you mean a lively, classic college atmosphere, Boston College usually feels more immediately social for undergrads. Football weekends, a more unified campus identity, and a student culture that is less pulled in different directions tend to make BC feel more traditionally fun. A lot of students describe it as easier to plug into socially because the campus is more self-contained and undergraduate life is more concentrated.

Georgetown can absolutely be fun, but it is a different type of fun. The setting in DC gives you access to neighborhoods, restaurants, politics, internships, and off-campus events that few schools can match. At the same time, that can make the social scene feel more dispersed, and some students find it less warm or less cohesive than a classic residential campus.

So if you are asking which feels more fun overall for most undergrads, Boston College probably has the edge. Georgetown becomes more appealing if your idea of fun includes city life, ambitious peers, and a social experience that extends well beyond campus.
