Is Emory worth it compared to Tufts for college students?

The biggest practical tradeoff is environment and culture: Emory gives you a more defined campus experience in Atlanta with especially strong access to health, public health, and business-adjacent opportunities, while Tufts offers a smaller New England feel near Boston with a more overtly intellectual, international, and interdisciplinary campus vibe. Emory tends to feel more pre-professional in a polished way, especially around medicine, public health, neuroscience, and consulting pathways. Tufts often feels a bit more eclectic and discussion-driven, with strong energy around international relations, civic engagement, and cross-disciplinary exploration.

In student experience, Emory is often seen as having the more traditional residential campus and a warmer-weather, greener setting. Its connection to Atlanta matters a lot because internships, hospital exposure, research, and employer access are meaningfully shaped by being in a major city, even though the campus itself is not downtown. Tufts benefits from proximity to Boston too, but the immediate Medford/Somerville environment feels more integrated into a college-town-plus-city network than a self-contained campus world.
