Boston University vs Wake Forest for internships: which school has better internship opportunities?

Boston University has the edge for internships, mainly because of location and the sheer volume of employers students can reach during the academic year. Being in Boston gives BU students access to hospitals, biotech firms, finance companies, media organizations, nonprofits, startups, and major corporate offices without needing to leave campus life behind. That matters a lot if you want part-time internships during the semester, not just summer roles.

BU is also structured in a way that supports frequent employer contact. Its schools and colleges, especially in business, communications, health-related fields, engineering, and international relations, are closely tied to industries that have a strong Boston presence. Students can realistically network, interview, and intern during the school year using public transit, which is a real advantage over campuses in smaller markets.

Wake Forest still does well, especially through its alumni network and career advising, and students often speak highly of how personally supported they feel. But Winston-Salem offers a narrower local internship market during the semester than Boston, so students may rely more on school-facilitated connections, alumni outreach, or summer relocation.

For summer internships, both schools can place students well beyond their immediate region, so the difference is less dramatic.
